1.The major political parties contesting UK general elections; key philosophical differences between the political parties operating in UK general elections.
2.The nature of the ‘First Past the Post’ system based on parliamentary constituencies; the frequency of Westminster elections. Other voting systems used in UK elections, including proportional systems and the advantages and disadvantages of each.

The lesson investigates the differences between refugees and asylum seekers, looks at the asylum process, follows individual case studies, investigates the opinions of the public on immigration and invites students to form their own conclusions based on evidence.

Multiculturalism - One - two hours (if all tasks fully completed). Fully resourced lesson which introduces multiculturalism and the arguments for and against it. It also recaps on fundamental British Values. The lesson is adaptable, easy to follow and fully differentiated. It could be used by a KS3 or KS4 Citizenship or PSHE group.
